Uplands is proud to have a large, dedicated and experienced staff team. Every member of our community is committed to supporting our students to enjoy learning whilst developing independence and interdependence.
The school ha an experienced teaching team who work with a large number of Teaching Assistants. Under the direction of teachers, all adults within the classroom are fully involved in working cooperatively to deliver all curriculum areas. Uplands benefits from a high staff to studio ratio and this enables all students to access a curriculum which is specifically tailored to their needs.
We have a comprehensive and high quality programme of Continual Professional Development which all adults in the school participate in. Regular training ensures that staff are equipped with appropriate knowledge and are skilled in techniques which enable our students to make outstanding progress. There is an embedded culture of sharing good practice across the school and it is recognised that we can all learn from each other. To this end we have a robust system of peer to peer swaps, shared lesson observations and training programmes delivered by experts within the school, utilising the expertise of staff across the school.
All categories of staff participate directly in, or contribute indirectly to:
- Teaching staff meetings
- MDSA meetings
- Class team meetings
- Curriculum development meetings
