PE and Sports Provision
At Uplands we are keen to encourage all our students to take part in PE and sports activities.
Uplands School is proud of its well-equipped hall which includes a trampoline with hoist, indoor PE equipment and games, fully equipped gym, adventure playground, soft play room, ball pool, adapted bikes and tricycles and a secure field.
PE and sport is a timetabled part of the curriculum with weekly sessions that will include team and ball games, fitness in the form of obstacle courses and trampolining. In addition all students swim at least once a week.
PMLD students benefit from regular physio, tacpac sessions, hydrotherapy swims and therapeutic equipment such as standing frames.
We have recently been awarded a grant to install outside gym equipment which will be installed by the end of the year and will include resistance style equipment.
Throughout the year students take part in different events within the community such as the Panathlon at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Wiltshire Games, Boccia tournament and other events such as climbing at The Link Centre or social swimming at Dorcan Pool.
We also encourage students to choose healthy eating options when choosing food and snacks at school.
